GET THE RIGHT VALUES!

As an electrical contractor,  you want to be ready for your customers questions and/or concerns.  Are you ready to size their services,  calculate voltage drop,  size transformers,  handle derating,  figure conduit fill and so on?  These are just a few key areas that affect your business on a daily basis.  Do you know how to calculate each of these areas?

Most contractors admit they need a little help when it comes to electrical calculations.  The Electrical Inspector CD is specifically designed to handle several key areas that affect electrical contractors.  Do you need this software?  Our guess is that EVERY Electrical Contractor needs this software!  Take the test below and see!

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO SIZE A CONDUCTOR?

You would think that every electrical contractor should at least know how to size a conductor!  It may surprise you however to learn that most electrical contractors get rather confused when sizing conductors.  Why is that?

WHY ALL THE CONFUSION?   It's not as easy as you might think.  To size any conductor correctly,  the code book refers you to table 310-16.  On that page, there are 3 columns to select from.  You will find a 60, 75 and 90  degree column.  Above each of these columns, are the wire types that the column's values are based on.  If you look closely,  you will find that THHN is only found at the top of the 90 degree column! Do you,  like most contractors,  start sliding your finger down that column?   You better wait because ANY ONE OF THE 3 COLUMNS may apply and THHN is not found above all the columns!  To know which column to use, there are several questions you have to filter through such as: "Is the load you're sizing the wire for over or under 100 amps?  Is the load exactly 100 amps?  Will derating be applicable?"  (In most cases,  derating will apply if you have 4 or more current carrying conductors in the same raceway and/or if temperature conditions affect the wire.)  Do you know which column to select from in all scenarios?  Do you know where derating factors are found for the number of conductors in the raceway?  When applying derating,  are you supposed to count  the neutral conductors in the raceway?  There is one specific situation where derating is not applied no matter how many conductors are in the raceway.  Do you know what situation that is?  Sometimes,  both derating factors have to be applied,  one for the number of conductors and the other for temperature conditions.  If both factors apply,  then which of the two apply first?   Now if you've gotten this far you probably think you have your answer.  If you've applied derating as part of the equation to find your answer then guess what?  Your answer may not be your final answer.

As you can see from the above example,  the code book is not an easy book to follow or understand.  Contractors pay hundreds of dollars each year just to keep up with it.  The Electrical Inspector software knows how to handle sizing conductors and ALL THE BELOW AREAS!  Without a doubt,  this package can make your life much easier!  Why not make it a part of your office library today!

CALCULATION FEATURES!

1.  Voltage Drop - Calculates voltage drop for aluminum and/or copper conductors!

2.  Size Conductors  - Sizes copper and/or aluminum  conductors for almost any size load!

3.  Size Feeders  -  Gives you the correct number and size of feeder wires needed for any size service up to 6000 Amps.  It also provides you with the number and size of conduits needed for your feeder wires and gives you the specific ground wire  sizes for all the ground wires needed for that service.

4.  Box Sizing - Size large and/or small junction boxes.  For small boxes,  insert the number of and the size of conductors that enter the box.  For large boxes,  insert the number and size of conduits that enter each of the 4 sides of the box.

5.  Transformer Sizing -  Size transformers and know the maximum over current protection you can apply to the transformer.

6.  Buck Boost Transformer Sizing - Size buck boost transformers!

7.  Conduit Fill -  Size any type of conduit by inserting the number and size of conductors that are in it.

8.  Help functions -  Be directed to applicable code sections for almost any area of the software!

9.  Much Much More!
